Minimally invasive surgery is widely spread in the field of digestive surgery. However, minimally invasive pancreatic surgery (MIPS) is still challenging and low volume medical centers are at a high risk of mortality after MIPS. However, every institute have to start as a low volume center before accumulating experiences. Therefore, how we can safely start as a zero volume center. There are some pivotal roles which academic societies have to play. I’ll here discuss about education system, board system, registry system, and more about roles of academic societies which we have done before.
