Local ablation therapy is a well-established treatment modality for small hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) smaller than 3 cm. The technical advances in local ablation therapy provide excellent local tumor control for small HCCs as a large ablation zone can be easily made with multiple electrodes thanks to centripetal ablation. However, before initiating treatment, tumor biology should be taken into consideration. In this presentation, I will talk about HCCs showing aggressive tumor biology and ablation technique to lead to successful ablation for this kind of tumor.
