Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Surgery is a demanding field requiring strong dedication. With the time commitment and undivided attention required for clinical work, it is not uncommon for HPB surgeons to work in isolation, hindering personal development and practice progression. These have to be changed to avoid personal burnt out, and leading to hampering of development of the field. The new Malaysia Society of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgeons (MyHPBS) is a society formed to facilitate the advancement of the HPB field as well as to protect the welfare of patients and health care workers who practice it. MyHPBS also facilitates collaborations nationally and internationally. Through these changes in practice, MyHPBS is looking forward to making a difference to the future development of HPB surgery.
